5 Ways to Spark Your Child’s Creativity

You know what they say, there is an artist in every child. We just have to learn how to unleash that artist. So if you want to help your child improve his or her creativity, here are some of the things that you can do.

1. Visit museums and art galleries.

At first you may never know which type of art your child may be inclined to, but you can always give them a nudge in the right direction to help them discover it themselves. One way to do that is to take them to a museum or art gallery and let them wander through the halls. Who knows, there might be a piece of art that might ignite your child’s artistic interest.

2. Be a good example.

Do some artwork yourself and allow your child to watch you while you’re doing it. You don’t have to be good at it, your goal is to get your child interested in art. So even if you can’t paint, just give it a try and paint something simple. Your little one will surely enjoy watching you create wonders with different colors.

3. Buy them toys that spark creativity.

Think of Legos and other building blocks, also clay, paint kits, and coloring books. It maybe just a typical plaything to a child, but these toys actually helps them become more creative the more your child play with them.

4. Let your child be messy.

If you see your child splattering glue all over a piece of paper or finger painting the walls, sometimes the best approach is not to scold them but simply to let them be. To a child’s mind it is not about creating a mess, but expressing his or her creativity.

5. Enrol your child in an art class.

Even if your child is not showing an initial interest to a specific form of art, a good way to get them started to it is by enrolling your child in a class. Painting class, dance class, drawing class, and so on. You’ll never know which one will be of interest to your little one.
