How to Get Your Kids to Eat Vegetables

Let us accept the fact that vegetables really do not appeal much to children. Unless of course it’s a potato that’s cut up and deep fried into fries. But we all know that’s not a healthy way of eating a vegetable.

There are some things that you can do to trick or make your children to eat (or even like!) vegetables.

1. Let them be part of the cooking process.

Don’t make them go away whenever your kids would like to help you out in the kitchen. Instead, put their enthusiasm into good use by allowing them to prepare and cook their own meals. Let them do something simple like peeling some vegetables (guide them properly) or just washing the produce.

Sometimes by simply letting them prepare their own food, even if it’s mostly comprised of vegetables, children would want to try their own creations. It’s a good start.

2. Make them take at least a single bite.

Some parents swear to the effectiveness of having their kids take even a single bite of a certain vegetable each time it is served to them. They don’t have to finish the whole vegetable, just let them take a bite even if it’s a small one at first.

The reasoning behind this is by constantly exposing the child to the sight and taste of that vegetable, he or she will eventually get used to it and not mind eating it regularly. Go ahead, just give this single bite technique a try.

3. Give your kids a reward.

It doesn’t have to be a big reward (and it shouldn’t be, really) like buying them new toys or taking them to the amusement park. Especially with small children, even as simple as giving them a star or a sticker each time they eat their vegetables are good enough rewards for them.

Be Patient They’ll Eventually Like Their Veggies

As a parent you will need a lot of patience and perseverance when it comes to making your children eat their vegetables. But the key is to be consistent and to never stop. After all, you are helping your kids become healthier through proper eating.
